The Gambia Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) has informed the general public that they have engaged all fuel stakeholders to resolve the acute fuel shortage affecting the movement of the general public.
The said engagements alluded to by PURA in a press release, aimed at identifying mechanisms to address the fuel shortage that currently hits the nation.
“The Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) wishes to inform the general public that the country is currently experiencing some shortage of fuel, especially Gas Oil,” the PURA release said.
The Authority also assures all and sundry that efforts have been deployed as engagements are currently ongoing between the Gambia Government, oil marketing companies and other relevant stakeholders, in a bid to resolve the matter immediately.
“PURA and all parties involved are determined to restore the situation to normalcy by facilitating overland importation of petrol and diesel for the current period and quickly replenish the shipment,” PURA said.
According to the press release, the Authority laments the difficulties that the public continues to face in this period; that whilst they share their frustrations, the public is encouraged to exercise restraint and patience as efforts to address the shortage and avert any future recurrence, intensify,” it concludes.
