Dutch Philanthropist Donates Learning Materials to Bundung LBS

By Kebba Jeffang Mr. Cherno Manneh on behalf of his Dutch friend on Thursday 23rd October Dutch Philanthropist2014, at a ceremony presented cartons of hearing and teaching materials to Bundung Lower Basic school as contribution to quality education in the Gambia. Speaking at the occasion, Madam Isatou A. Jallow, the headmistress of the School hailed the donors for rendering such assistance to their school. She said the philanthropist has previously given support to the school and described their relationship as cordial. She assured that the materials would be put into good use and asked for continuous cooperation. Mr. Essa Sowe, the Chairman of the school’s School Management Committee thanked the donors for the support. He said the support is timely and would go a long way in helping both the teachers and the students. He said choosing Bundung LBS is important due to its population despite annexing the school this year. Mr. Lamin FM Jaiteh, the Principal Education Officer (PEO) who also represented the regional directorate (region 1), said the support has come at a time when his ministry is aiming to reach its set goal of vision 2015. He called for intervention of any stakeholder since the ministry cannot do it alone. He urged for proper utilization of quality education materials. Mr. Cherno Manneh who led the delegation of his Dutch friends, said the lady behind the support is a Dutch national who wants to contribute to the development of quality education in the Gambia especially at the grassroots. He said they have previously been rendering such assistance to Bundung Lower Basic School and promised that more is expected. He stated that other schools would also benefit soon. The other speakers include the “Alkalo” (village head) of Bundung who also thanked the donors for their valuable support.]]>
