The Gambia Revenue Authority GRA under its Human Resources department on Wednesday hosted a day long orientation for heads of offices from both customs and domestic taxes on roles and responsibilities toward their work.
Ernest Mendy, Administration officer at the GRA, said the event was aimed at bringing the top staffers across the country to update them on their roles and responsibilities as enshrined in their respective duties, for effective service delivery on tax administration in the country.
He added the event will avail them the rare opportunity to highlight their challenges, concerns and make recommendations on what needs to be done to enhance their work effectively and efficiently.
According to Mr Mendy the roles of the HR include coordination of human resources functions, training and development, service rules, code of conduct as expected of the tax administrators.
Yankuba Darboe, the Commissioner General of the Authority, hailed the HR Department for the foresight as it helps in ensuring that capacities of their workers are widened.
He thus encouraged the tax administrators to adhere to the HR Policy and called for more commitment, dedication and devotion of the tax officials in the execution of their duties.
