Police Arrest Three for Alleged Possession of Counterfeit US Dollar Notes

The Deputy Spokesperson of the Gambia Police Force Cadet Assistant Superintending Modou Musa Sisawo, on Tuesday, 12 March 2024 informed this medium that the police have arrested three individuals for alleged possession of more than four million in counterfeit US dollars.

“The Gambia Police Force’s Delta Company personnel of the Police Intervention Unit (PIU) in Kanifing, responded to a tip-off regarding suspicious activity in a compound in Wulinkama on Wednesday, March 6, 2024,” he stated.

The Police Deputy PRO said the officers arrested three Nigerian nationals suspected of possessing counterfeit US Dollar notes.

“During a thorough search, officers found counterfeit cash amounting to seven thousand, eight hundred USD ($7,800) and three boxes containing $4.65 million black papers for printing suspected counterfeit money,” he stated.

Additionally, he said various items which include mobile phones, laptops, tablets and boxes sealed with the Red Cross emblem and UN tags labeled “they should not be inspected”, were discovered,” he said, calling on the public to provide any information that may be useful to the said case as the police continue with their investigation.
