Women’s Second Division Title Race Explained

Yakarr FC on Sunday won Raptim 2-1 to close the gap with Jeshwang United to one (1) point as the title race ensued in the Gambia Football Federation Women’s Second Division.

After 14 of the 22 matches played so far, Jeshwang United have 28 points with Yakarr FC following closely on 27 points. Jeshwang United drew their last match 2-2 against Greater Tomorrow on Sunday played in Brikama.

Jeshwang has 8 wins, 4 draws and 2 defeats while Yakarr FC have 7 wins, 6 draws and 1 defeat so far this season. Jeshwang scored 24 goals and conceded 8 while Yakarr scored 28 and conceded 13.

Kintehs are sitting in 3rd place with 24 points, 4 points behind the league leaders. They have 6 wins, 6 draws and 2 defeats with 18 goals scored and 9 conceded. Greater Tomorrow are sitting in 4th with 23 points after having won 7, drew 2 and lost 5. Fortune FC are sitting in 5th place with 22 points and Jung Mama are sitting in 6th place with 21 points. Fortune has a game in-hand to play against Mansawally and if they win it, they will move to 3rd position.

This shows a 7 point difference between the top and the 6th place team.

Prison is sitting in 7th position with 15 points, Lower Niumi with 14 points in 8th position, Trust FC in 9th position also with 14 points and Darboe’s FC in 10th position with 14 points. Darboe’s won 2-1 against Lower Niumi in Banjul on Sunday.

The bottom two teams in the relegation zone are Mansawally in 11th position with 11 points and Raptim in 12th position with 7 points.
