The Gambia Police Force has taken decisive action against drug-related crimes in the Greater Banjul Area with the initiation of “Operation Fight Kush”.

The special task force was launched in February 2024.

“Since its commencement, this operation has yielded remarkable results, leading to the arrest of over two dozen individuals at various locations within the Kanifing Municipality and beyond,” the police indicated.

These arrests, according to the police, were made in connection with possession of suspected controlled substances such as tramadol pills, “Kush,” and suspected stolen smartphones, reportedly taken from ST’s musical concert, among other items.

Individuals found in possession of suspected drugs have been promptly handed over to the Drug Law Enforcement Agency (DLEAG) for further processing.

The Gambia Police Force remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens, a statement from the Police said.
