Community Leaders Train on Leadership Skills

By Saikou Suwareh Jabai Forty Eight (48) Cluster Executives from Darsilami Program Site inCommunity Leaders Train Kombo Central District within the directive of the Saamasang Federation on Monday July 6 began a three day training on decision-making skills at the Darsilami Program site in the West Coast Region.Ebrima Jagne, Programme Development Officer (PDO) Jamisa/Darsilami said the training is aim at empowering the participants on managerial skills as representatives from the nine selected clusters within the program site. “The three day training is vital because it will promote the welfare of the participants in the areas of management skills,’’ he said. He added that Saamasang Federation will continue working with the relevant stakeholders in its quest to promote the affairs of the grass root communities within Kombo Central as a CBO since the main role of the Federation is to support the grass root communities in their particular areas of difficulties. ‘’ The three day training would certainly enhance the spirits of you the participants to fully participate in managing your affairs at community levels,’’ he said. Saamasang, according to PDO Jagne, cannot work in isolation, but instead in partnership with relevant stakeholders in which the communities are integral part,” he noted. Sunkary Badjie, the lead trainer who is also the Community Development Officer (CDO) for West Coast Region said the training will in no doubt help the communities in their quest to promote development and manage their own affairs without any hindrance as they have learnt a lot on management and communication skills. Lamin Fatty, Acting Programme Development Officer Kabafita/Bafuloto Community describes the training as meaningful and a success as the participants would learn a lot of new ideas on how to govern their own interests. Saikou Sanyang and Ousman Joof, Community Mobilizers for Darsilami Community Association and Penyem Community Association respectively (CA) applauded the participants for answering their call, noting that the Federation is committed to the advancement of the grass root partners especially women and children. The training according to them is part of strengthening their affiliation with the clusters within the Darsilami Community Association who are not performing effectively in order for them to register significant development. Bolong Touray and Fatou Touray participants from Darsilami and Penyem Clusters respectively lauded Saamasang for their foresight and high sense of humanity saying the training is yet another step towards acquiring knowledge. Momodou Jarju, village head, Bajiran said the communities as partners to Saamasang are delighted to undergo such an important training noting as leaders from their respective areas, they would be horn with the reliable information regarding leadership ability. The participants were drawn from Kitty, Kabakel, Marakissa, Dimbaya, Bajiran and Darsilami in the Darsilami Community Association, while the Penyem participants were drawn from Jalangbantang, Touba Manduarr, Manduarr Central and Jamwelly.]]>
