The player, (name withheld) was arrested after his team Manka Football Club’s lost to Ajax in the zone’s Nawettan qualifiers.Apparently not pleased with the defeat, he is said to have caused some destruction, according to a source. Angered by the player’s alleged actions, the Manjai Sports Committee decided to ensure his apprehension by the police. The said player, who is still held in detention, has been asked to repair the damage he had caused, according to the source. This is the first such incident affecting Manjai football, a zone whose Nawettan is blighted by an ongoing feud between Manjai Youth Development Association (MYDA) and the sports committee of the complex. In a separate development regarding the area, the MYDA attorney B.Y. Camara has petitioned the Kanifing Municipality Regional Sports Committee to carefully investigate the protracted furor including the sports committee’s recent elections.
