Activist chat on Sunday 4th September 2016 concluded a three day school summer camp for 50 school going youth and children between the ages 9 to 17 under  the Theme: “Preparing the young, Shaping the Future”.

According to the organisers, the aim of organising the camp is to teach the participants such topics as Entrepreneurship, Mentorship, Child Rights, Art, Young People and Modern Technology, Decision  Making, Skills Development and Build Self-Confidence.

Mr. Alieu K. Jammeh, the Minister of Youth and Sports, said this summer camp training for children and youth is very important, especially during this summer holidays as some schools do not conduct summer classes.

“You, the future leaders of tomorrow, will become doctors, teachers, minister, permanent secretaries and many more, so you need to work hard and to be able to achieve your dreams,” said the youth and sport minister.

Mr. Jammeh told the participants that most of the students are idle during the holidays so this kind of camping is really helping to make their work easier. “This camping will break many barriers in the life of the children. The children have done well and they are very intelligent people and easy to make them understand,” said minister Jammeh.

Alhagie Momodou K.E. Touray of the Village Development Community (VDC) said the organisers have done very well in selecting children to learn new things which they do not know.

He thanked the organisers for what he called “a job well done.”
