GBOS PRESENTS ANNUAL FINANCIAL REPORT 2013 TO PAC/PEC

By Nelson Manneh                                                                                              The Gambia Bureau of Statistics (GBoS) on Wednesday, 1 April, 2015 presented its annual Financial and Activity Report 2013 before the joint Public Accounts and Public Entreprises Committee (PAC/PEC) of the National Assembly. Presenting the report, Mr. Nyakassi M.B. Sanyang, the Statistician General, told the deputies that during the year 2013, GBoS continued with its data collection, processing, analysis and dissemination. Mr. Sanyang said the Bureau in collaboration with sister agencies both within and outside Government conducted ad-hoc social-economic surveys. “Routine data collection exercise relate to consumer price indices, producer price indices, Government finance statistics, national accounts, trade and tourism, transport and communication statistics,” said the Statistician General. He said, in accordance with their objectives, GBoS conducts its work in three folds. The first, he said, is to conduct ad-hoc studies on request using statistically sound methodologies at all stages. The second is the economic and social statistics which include National Accounts Directorate, External Trade Statistics, Population and Housing Census and the third is the Labour Force Survey. Mr Pa Majagne Ndow from the Auditor General’s office presented the GBoS Audit Report for the said year. He reported some of the findings and recommendations in the Audit Report. The Chairman of the PAC/PEC also invited the GBoS management to respond to the findings.  ]]>
