th anniversary on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at the TANGO Conference Hall. The celebration is part of YJAG annual activity calendar of YJAG to celebrate and reflect on it’s achievements and challenges and come up with solutions to address those challenges of the previous year. It will take a form of a march pass from the traffic light to TANGO office and will follow with official opening and presentation of papers on the Theme and its sub topic to be delivered by various presenters. The theme for this year’s anniversary is ‘The Role of Media in Promoting Agricultural Development and the Attainment of National Food Self-sufficiency Agenda’. The development of agriculture and achievement of food self-sufficiency means the development of every individual in the Gambia, because if Gambia can be able to feed herself that will be beneficial to all. As journalists we are here for all, so promoting agricultural development and food self-sufficiency is our responsibility. Meanwhile, YJAG is an independent, non-profit making organization and it’s legally registered with the Attorney General’s Chamber on 16th September, 2007. The association has a Board of Advisers. YJAG has members from both the print and electronic media nationwide. The objectives of the association include promoting unity among young journalists in The Gambia, providing capacity building, and addressing the welfare of its members, amongst others. YJAG has, in recent years, contributed tremendously to the development of The Gambia media industry, especially on capacity building of its members on news reportage which has greatly enhanced professionalism in the industry. The association is also tasked with the responsibility to facilitate the recruitment of young journalists into the profession. Furthermore, we call on all YJAG members, non-members alike and the general public to come and be part of the celebration, it is our day and we need to celebrate it to the latter. However, 7 years is not 7 days, lot of efforts and resources had been put into the development of this noble organisation until today. Let us be proud of ourselves and our achievements for the past 7 years, our record and achievement are there to speak for itself.    ]]>
