Three Gambian women have been included in an inaugural list of 100 Most Influential African Women list. They are Fatou Bom Bensouda, the prosecutor at the International Criminal Court, Fatou Jagne Senghor, the West Africa Director of Article 19 and Mariam Denton, Speaker of the National Assembly.

The list, prepared by Leading African Rating and PR firm, Avance Media features distinguished women whose works and accomplishments continue to inspire the next generation of women in Africa. Avance Media is a media and public relations agency focused in creating varied contents for the global market.
