The Supreme Court has saved the councils from being dissolved and administrators appointed to preserve the tenure of members of council. Interestingly enough at the Janjangbureh Area Council, information is reaching Foroyaa that the Vice Chairperson has been removed. The paper is now investigating the grounds and procedure used for the removal just two months before council elections.
In such cases it is the courts that will ultimately determine the final outcome of any battle regarding the tenure of office. If those who are charged with the responsibility of administering and managing their public offices on the basis of the rule of law actually do so with efficiency, transparency and probity there would be no need for judges to intervene.
