Trust Bank LTD Donates D100,000 Worth of Items to Basse Hospital

Basse District hospital on Wednesday 17th November 2021, received D100,000 worth of items donated by Trust Bank Gambia Limited.

The presentation was held in Basse district hospital at the male ward, and the items including medical supplies, electrical equipment and detergents.

According to the managing director of Trust Bank Madam Njilan Senghore, there is beautiful relationship existing between the two institutions for over five years now.

“It is continuation of a journey which started about five years ago with the strategic objective of complimenting government’s efforts in the promotion of quality health care. This is a cause that is close to our hearts as it constitutes one of the main pillars on which our Corporate Social Responsibility Program is built,” Madam Senghore said.

She further added that they are aware and appreciate that their customers from all corners of the Gambia, and even themselves as employees of Trust Bank LTD together with their families might at some point directly or indirectly benefit from the health services offered by Basse District hospital. She said events like this therefore have far reaching positive consequences on the lives of many and resonates with their Corporate Social Responsibility objective of ‘bring hope where there is despair’.

Speaking at the presentation the Officer in charge (OIC) Basse District hospital Baatou Camara disclosed that this is the 6th presentation done by Trust Bank after its adoption of the male ward in Basse hospital in 2015 and since then they have been supporting this particular hospital every year.

He said Basse hospital is the only main referral within the URR from over 18 health facilities.

“The management and the staff of Basse District hospital are committed in their efforts to provide quality health service delivery to the people of URR, in that regard government of the Gambia through the ministry of health has been providing all necessary support for this particular hospital and any other facility in URR in terms of financial, human and material resources. However, concerning the size of the hospital and its catchment area we are over strange in terms of material resources,” OIC Camara said.

The regional director of health for URR Dr Lamin Ceesay who represents the minister of health at the event, thanked the Trust Bank LTD for the gesture and on behalf of ministry of health he expressed his profound gratitude towards the gesture by the Trust Bank Limited. He assured that they will make a follow-up to make sure that the items are properly used and he also called on other institutions to emulate Trust Bank.

Alasanna Camara a member in Basse hospital management committee also thanks Trust Bank LTD described gesture as timely.

Similar donations were made by Trust Bank to two other health facilities in the past few days.
