launched its Gambia College Chapter on Thursday 14th January, 2016 at

In his opening remarks, the President of Gambia College Students’
Union, Ebrima Bah, welcomed The Legacy to the college and expressed
appreciation for the establishment of the chapter.

officers, it is important for them to be associated with such
organisations for more exposure.
The College Students’ Union president said his organisation is always
open for the chapter and that they are looking forward to a fruitful
collaboration.
In his statement to launch the Chapter, Saikou Suwareh Jabai, the
Executive Director of The Legacy, said the organisation is a
registered youth-led NGO that seeks to help young people to become
focus and acquire skills that are relevant to their future
development.
He said their motivation is based on the fact that young people have
the capacity to become productive assets in their chosen fields of
endeavour if given the relevant exposure and opportunity to
demonstrate their skills through positive social action.
“We have made our marks by changing the lives of hundreds of young
people in and outside the Gambia through our formidable mass media
advocacies on various subjects and most recently, trainings on climate
change and life-long skills,” said Mr. Jabai.
He congratulated the new executive of the chapter on their recent
appointments, adding that it is in recognition of the unflinching
commitment they have shown during the transition period leading to the
establishment of the Chapter.
The Secretary General of The Legacy, Sheikh Omar Sillah, said the
establishment of the Gambia College Chapter is part of their drive to
extend their programmes to students. He said The Gambia College is
very instrumental and can serve as a building block to offer their
services to the students of the college who will as well train and
empower their students when they go for their final postings in their
respective schools.
He said they provide services on career development, leadership,
fellowship and mentorship, advocacy, guidance and counselling.
The President of The Legacy Gambia College Chapter, Omar Cham,
expressed delight on the launching of the chapter and assured that
