Bakau needed to get off to a flying start to stay on track of replicating their show last term that saw them playing East Bi in the finals but a resolute Brufut proved a hard nut to crack. Consequently either side settled for a share of the spoils.

In another contest on Tuesday Manjai picked their first points on Serrekunda Central – sarcastically dubbed the Whipping Boys and who had no nawettan this term owing to funding issues.

SK Central’s set up is a hastily arranged team picked from an organized mini-tournament of eight teams in the zone, Foroyaa Sport understands.

Elsewhere Gunjur strolled past Lamin on a 2-1 score. Salif Bojang and Saikouba Manneh two goals was enough to rip off Lamin’s hopes of a comeback though they tried one when Kalifa Manjang reduced the deficit but it turned out too late too little.

In a roundup of earlier matches, Brikama got off to a flier in their opening group game match beating Sukuta by a goal to nothing.

A Mustapha Drammeh volley in the 39th minute was enough to seal all points for the Sateba Boys consequently condemning Sukuta to their first defeat.

The Sukuta fans, voted one of the best in the previous tournament, were their usual gingering selves but their roars failed to spark the life out of their adversaries.

Elsewhere, Bara, Eassau and Mayamba acronym as BEM also failed to get past a booming SK West side losing 1-0.

In an Earlier encounter, champions Serrekunda East were held by Banjul last weekend at the East grounds in the opening fixture of the Super Nawettan.

New entrant Wally Fofana broke the deadlock with beauty before Tamsir Sanyang levelled ten minutes on in the second-half.
