Gambia have stepped up the campaign to gain more slots in the Brazil Rio Olympic Games sending two juniorAssan faye is one of athletes going athletes to Nigeria for preparations, Foroyaa Sport can report.

Assan Faye and Alieu Joof are sent to Port Harcourt where they are expected to have access to the High Performance Training Centre there at their disposal in massive preparations for next year’s Rio Games and for future junior competitions.

The pair, highly regarded by the country’s athletics association, will also get a chance to attend a college during their period of stay there on an IOC scholarship –lobbied for by the Gambia Athletics Association and the Gambia National Olympic Committee.

‘The athletes are going to Port Harcourt in Nigeria. They just left school and they have to continue their education and train. They will be attending College and train for the preparation of Rio (Olympic Games Brazil) and for future championships,’ GAA head Dodou Capi Joof told Foroyaa Sport yesterday.

The duo leaves the country’s shores today.
