By Sulayman Bah The list of sporting associations qualified as affiliated of the National Sport Council is due to be unveiled this week, said a Sports Council official. An array of prospective affiliate sporting associations of the council was subjected to a vetting process for eligibility by an internal committee and which began last week. This came on the heels of new regulations introduced by the National Sports Council in a bid to put Gambian sports on the path of development. The new regulations, among others, require institutions heading various sporting disciplines to acquire a verified bank account, headquarters, to running a functioning domestic league and operating at least within regions in the country. Representatives of association were interviewed on Thursday and Friday last week as part of the vetting process to determine their qualification/eligibility or otherwise. Speaking to Foroyaa Sport yesterday, Ebou Secka of the NSC, who also heads the internal vetting committee, said: “you can expect it (result) this week. A statement will be issued to that effect.”]]>
