Sowe’s case fails to proceed due to bereavement of trial judge

By Kebba Jeffang The habeas corpus application seeking the production of Ex-protocol officer,Momodou Sowe Mr Momodou Sowe, in court failed to proceed on Tuesday 9 December 2014 due to the bereavement of the trial judge. The government of the Gambia was sued by the wife of Mr. Momodou Sowe, in July this year but it has been adjourned several times. The matter is again adjourned till 22 January, 2015 at 12pm. The case is currently presided over by Justice Simone Abi of the Criminal Division of the Banjul High Court who was absent at the time of the case. The basis of the case is that Mrs.  Amie Sowe, the plaintiff and wife of Mr. Momodou Sowe, holds that her husband has been held in state custody for more than two years without lawful reason and wants his release.]]>
