School children form the Greater Banjul Area and their teachers, and women party supporters were among those who took part in the protest. Slogans like “No to homosexuality” were written in both English and Arabic on the banners carried by the protestors. At the July 22 square, the Minister of Foreign Affairs condemned lesbians and gays in front of the gathering. Some of the protestors told this reporter that they did not know why they were there.
