11 computers to Samasang Senior Secondary School on behalf of the Association of Gambians in Stuttgart in Germany at a ceremony held at the said school ground in Brikama. The equipment according to the association’s representative, were bought at a tune of D247, 000 and are meant to supplement the teaching and learning of IT in the said school. Speaking at the handing over ceremony, the representative of the association , Yusupha Gomez expressed delight that the computers would facilitate education in the school. He called on both the students and management of the school to ensure that it serves it’s purpose. Momodou Jonga, the public relation officer of Brikama Area Council representing the Chairman, said this donation is timely and that Information Technology is the language of the world in the 21st century. He thanked the donor for conceiving the idea of donating computers to Samaasang senior secondary school. He also advised the management to observe the best practice in the usage of the computers to ensure durability. He further added that the Brikama Area Council has a very reliable and a fulfilled partnership with Samasang Federation and the Federation had been a full active partner of the council at regional level over the years, and through their partnership they have fulfilled the aspiration of the communities over the years. Mr. Edrisa Cham, manager of Samasang Child Fund affiliated Federation commended the donors for the gesture, saying that the initiative would further enhance teaching and learning of not only IT but the entire curriculum in the school. “IT is a very vibrant aspect of modern development,” he said, and further calling for the judicious and responsible utilization of the computers by both teachers and students. Mariama Jatta, speaking on behalf of the president of the association’s thanked the donors for the gesture and urged them to give more help as the school is in need of such.
