The Police spokesperson Foday Conta has communicated to Foroyaa to clarify their position on statement made at a joint press conference in April 2017 organized by the State House, GPF and GAF and Public Relations Offices.

According to the spokesperson the question that was posed to the Crime Management Coordinator (CMC) at the press conference was “whether the former Interior Minister was the one in command and control of the Janglers?”  And the answer from the CMC was that “there was no evidence yet to establish that the former Interior Minister was the one in command and control of the Janglers, however, that does not mean he is not subject to any investigation”

The police are not pleased with the following headline published by Daily Observer on 10 April 2017: “Ex-interior Minister, Ousman Sonko has no connection in the atrocities committed during the former regime”. They say this wrongly quoted the Crime Management Coordinator (CMC) at the joint press conference and brought confusion among the readers of the newspaper, and gave a different meaning to the whole statement of the CMC, even though it was clearly said in the inside story.
