Gambia local league club Bakau United could be mired in a transfer saga should player Musa Yaffa signed contract papers in Nigeria after he traveled out of the country reportedly unbeknown to his Gambian employers to Lagos.
Yaffa was with the Sukuta zonal team helping them swagger over Brufut to reach the semis and eventually the finals. But the player who was captain of the Demba Du Boys was nowhere to be seen in the finals against Serrekunda West prompting questions over his whereabouts.
But words soon made the rounds claiming Yaffa has been flown out of the country by an agent to Lagos where a trial offer with an unnamed Nigerian side awaited him.
A source who doesn’t want to be named said the former Gambia U-19 player hurried for the airport immediately after the Brufut game – said to be his last of the Super Nawettan.
The issue has Bakau United fuming at thoughts of the midfielder’s decision to leave without a notice to be traced.
Reached about the matter Bakau United’s president Seedy Kinteh said he’s unaware of Yaffa’s arranged trial in Nigeria and said they could take up the matter with the country’s football federation should it emerge that the player had signed without their involvement.
‘He is a Bakau United player. Even last year there was that problem. If there is any idea about that (signing in Nigeria) then we will write to the FA. We are not aware that Musa went on a trial. He left this country under what capacity? What we can tell you is, Musa is a Bakau United player,’ Seedy Kinteh told Foroyaa Sport yesterday.
This is not the first time Musa is being caught up in a controversy. The ex-Gambia U-17 starlet last year reportedly trained and registered with Hawks Football Club before an intervention by the GFF that nib the issue in the bud.
