The Gambian team’s meeting with its country’s Abidjan consular followed the team’s conquest in the Confederation of African Volleyball beach Continental Cup where the Gambian team clutched both gold and silver.

The team’s feat there means both the male and female categories have qualified for the semi-finals of the Cup to be staged in 2016.

Consular General Alagie Sibi heaped praises on the team upon receiving them. Gambian residents there also echoed similar remarks at the occasion.

It was the Gambian side’s second time of winning gold after disposing their opponents including Ghana and Burkina Faso in a sequence of fixtures.

In a tourney that serves as qualification for the Rio Olympic Games next year, the Gambian heroines wowed the turn out at the Triechville Sports Complex.

The male and female teams are funded by the Gambia National Olympic Committee.
