The sub-ward water extension project under the Community Infrastructure Livelihood Improvement Project (CILIP) for Latrikunda Yiringanya (aka LK German) has commenced with the digging and laying of water pipes.

This project, according to officials, is meant to make water accessible to eleven communities within the Kanifing Municipality.

Briefing the media during the weekend, Jerreh Sanneh, the Ward Councilor, said the project is a grant from the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), in collaboration with the Gambia government and the community, and is worth about D700, 000.

He said a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed which requires the community to contribute 10% of the project cost in the form of labour. He said the water extension project is to cover an area of about 523 metres of the settlement on the two sides of the Latri kunda main road starting from the former German clinic on the Kairaba Avenue and also from the nearby community market to the Latrikunda -Dipper Kunda boundary which is a distance of 625 metres.
