Honourable Muhammed Magassy, member for Basse on Thursday, 7th November declared his support for President Adama Barrow to serve his five-year mandate.

“Let it be clear to every Gambian both at home and abroad that Honourable Muhammed Magassy, a lead stakeholder in the Coalition is in full support of President Adama Barrow’s agenda, initiative and idea,” he said.

He said: “His Excellency Adama Barrow is the one I am following. His Excellency Adama Barrow is the one I am giving my support to. It is based on the reason that we are the ones who called him to come and bear the flag for us and he does not fail in doing so at a critical moment when everybody was calling for change but who is going to lead that change. At that material moment, who was going to lead the change? That was a question, but thanks to the almighty Allah that he is among the people who accepted to lead, and democratically he was lucky to be chosen as the flag bearer.”

He added: “We campaigned for him and during the campaign we sent messages to people and we told the people that this is the man who is capable – this is the man who knows and he is the man who can unite us and this is the man who can bring development for our country. That is what we said.”

He said these messages convinced people and the people cast their votes for President Adama Barrow, and at the end he won the elections.

“If that person wins, we are the cause of his win and that is because people have trust and confidence in us. We should not push him and push ourselves backward. That we should not elevate him and leave him alone,” Magassy said.

He said he is following the President so that the agenda that they have together would be realized.

“I find it prudent because I don’t have any other option to support President Adama Barrow. I shouldn’t even have other options rather than to give my full support to President Adama Barrow,” he said.

He said he will continue to support the President through advocacy, sensitization and supporting bills that are brought before the National Assembly.
