First ever coaching course for volleyball coaches

By Sulayman Bah Twenty volleyball coaches from affiliate clubs and regions within thecoaching course for volleyball country are being beefed up as Level 2 volleyball coaching gets underway. Organised by Gambia’s Olympic Bureau, Olympic Solidarity,International Volleyball Federation and Gambia Volleyball Association, the two-week first ever volleyball coaching course in the country got underway last week at the Sea View Garden Hotel. The sessions under Jivko Pavlov and Bernand Jose Denis experts from Bulgaria and Seychelles, Ousman Wadda at the opening urged participants to make exclusive use of the rare course outlining that top on GNOC’s list is capacity building. “Trained coaches will enhance volleyball competition in the country. The reward of athletes is achieving goals therefore take advantage of it in your teaching process” Wadda, deputizing the Olympic House’s top dog, said. Extolling the newly installed GBVA’s executive, Wadda also threw plaudits for Olympic Movement for what he calls the international institution’s unwavering support and effort towards development of the sport in the country. Yunusa Barry, Gambia Volleyball Association’s president, taking turn to speak at the opening, said this is the first time in the history of Volleyball that coaches are trained on Level 2 which will impact positively  on the development of the game. He hailed GNOC board to financing the entire trip of the Beach Volleyball team in the Rio 2016 qualifiers held in Senegal recently. The course Director Mr. Jivko Pavlon from Bulgaria was appreciative of GNOC, FIVB and Olympic Solidarity for their good will to host the level 2 volleyball course in The Gambia. “The international Volleyball Federation and Olympic Solidarity have to bend the rules for the level 2 coaching course to be held here because The Gambia cannot host such a course due to the lack of indoor facilities in the Country. To be frank with you only countries with indoor facilities can host this course” Mr. Pavlov revealed.    ]]>
