By Sulayman Bah Three of the recently appointed coaches for Gambia national teams willBonu Omar Sise Matarr Mboge today be unveiled. Bonu Johnson, Omar Sise and Matarr Alieu Mboge will face the press today at the Football House in Kanifing –the trio’s first press conference following their appointment by government.Ex- GPA boss Bonu is assigned to manage the U-23 and local-based Scorpions, Omar Sise U-20 and Matarr Alieu Mboge the U-17s. The coaches, whose appointments take effect April 1st with 3-month probation, are to work, according to the federation, under the ‘direct supervision’ of the GFF technical department and committee. The three gaffers’ assignments, in line with contractual bindings, will transcend beyond their normal coaching duties to any technical task that might be assigned to them. The new appointments bring to an end not only months of speculation over who will occupy the aforesaid seats but as well clear the path for the Scorpions to resume action after a one-year of international football hibernation. The managerial helm of senior national team coach however remains vacant. Former Gambia coach Paul Put has been linked to the portfolio but sources intimate to Foroyaa Sport that the federation has no immediate plans to hire a foreign coach and are instead occupied with making to do with Bonu Johnson for now with either Omar Sise or Matarr installed as assistants. Gambia has been on a free fall in recent FIFA rankings for lack of test matches and in a bid to rectify such an alarming dormancy, a friendly has been arranged against the Mourabitounes of Mauritania. Today’s unveiling will also centre on 27th March’s proposed test match. Bonu and Matarr are tasked to steer the forthcoming exhibition match and have since kicked off preparations and training. The encounter is to be held at the Independence Stadium 7pm.]]>
