th October 2014 took his company to the Industrial Tribunal claiming for reinstatement, and recovery of the sum of D2, 217.00 being his June salary, as well as cost, 36% interest and any other relief the tribunal deems fit. When the case was called, Mr. Ebrima Garba Cham, the Secretary General of the Gambia Workers Union represented the plaintiff, Mr. Yaya Sey, while the defendant fuel station was represented by lawyer Mary Samba. The tribunal was chaired by Mr. Sam S. Conteh. In his evidence before the tribunal, Mr. Sey told the tribunal that he is employed as an E Service Agent (Cash Power) but was kept out of work for 4 months without any reason advanced for this action by his employer. Mr. Sey explains to the tribunal that in June 2014, an auditor from the head office visited the station and discovered that some mobile phones went missing. He said he was not at work when the auditor paid the visit to the station but was told by his co-workers that the auditor came and discovered that some mobile phones went missing. He said it was in the following day when he returned to work that he got the information from his co-workers. He said in June, 27, 2014, he and his 3 other co-workers were asked not to report to work till Monday, the 30th of June 2014. Mr. Sey said on the 30th when they reported to the head office, they were asked if they knew anything about the missing mobile phones to which he said they all replied in the negative. Mr. Sey further told the tribunal the cost of the missing mobile phones was about D86,000 and they were asked to pay D14,000 each. He said they were then informed that if they paid that amount, the company would determine what comes next. He told the tribunal that since June, he is not working and that his June salary is seized up to date. He finally told the tribunal that he went twice to the head office to know his fate, but they told him that they are still investigating the matter. He said this is what prompted him to take the matter to the tribunal. The matter was eventually adjourned to the 23rd of October at 1pm. ]]>
