BY LAMIN FATTY IN URR Information reaching this reporter has it that dozens of Gambians have been killed in Libya as a result of a bomb blast at a camp called Brusiling Abu Sallah. Sara Jawo, a Gambian National and native of Samba Kunda in the Upper River Region and now residing in Libya, put the number of Gambians killed at 36. According to Sara Jawo, he was at his residence at the time of the reported blast but upon hearing that Gambians were among the casualties, he decided to go and see things for himself. He further indicated that only two out of the 44 people who were reportedly in Brusiling Abusallah camp survived. Some were trapped under the rubbles. He urged the Government to do all within its means to evacuate Gambian nationals in Libya since, according to him, other countries have already evacuated their nationals. The chairman of the operation no back way to Europe, Mr.Bubacarr Jabbie, speaking to this reporter in URR, said he received the information concerning the death of the 36 Gambians on the 3rd August at 6pm from a caller who said he is a native of URR. He said he felt sad since most of the victims are youth who are regarded as the cream of our society and the lives that have been lost shall never be recovered. Mr. Jabbie urged the young people to avoid venturing into dangerous journeys in search of greener pastures.]]>
