Beakanyang launches new chapter in URR

A new chapter of Beakanyang was on Sunday launched at a ceremony held at the village of Madina koto in Nyakoi, Wuli District of Upper River Region.
In his launching speech, Executive Director of Beakanyang, Nfamara Jawneh, congratulated the community of Madina for meeting the criteria of establishing a beakanyang local chapter. He urged the members to maintain unity and mutual understanding among themselves.
Beakanyang boss reminded the gathering of the determination of his organization in promoting human rights, climate change mitigation, poverty reduction and empowering women and youth across the country.
Mr Jawneh urged the people of Madina and Wuli in general to take full ownership of the organisation within their locality.
He reaffirmed his office’s resolve in working with local communities in fostering grassroots development.
He advised them to put in place fundraising strategies to sustain their programmes.
Speaking earlier, Sireng Ceesay, president of Madina Beakanyang kafo thanked the management of Beakanyang network for approving the application to establish a local chapter in their community. She assured Beakanyang of her group’s determination in working closely with them to improve their livelihoods.
Other speakers include the presidents of Barrow Kunda, Sutukonding and Kerewan beakanyang’s, Mori Conteh, Maneh Kijera and Jaka Dibassy respectively.
Mamadi Camara welcomed the guests to the village on behalf of the village Alkalo.
