By Kebba Jeffang Due to the absence of defence counsel Borry S. Touray yesterday, 12th March, 2015 at Brikama Magistrates’ Court, the trial involving Borry J. Saidy, the Manager of Air Traffic Services at Banjul International Airport, failed to proceed before Magistrate Omar Cham.Police prosecutor Chief Inspector Fadera was seen in court but later left without the matter been called. A court official later confirmed that the matter was adjourned to 26th March, 2015 because the counsel for the defendant was engaged at the Court of Appeal. It could be recalled that the accused person is charged with a single count of giving false information to a public officer by writing a letter to the Office of the President narrating an unfair treatment against him at his work place. He pleaded not guilty to the charge. His counsel’s application for the charge against his client to be dismissed based on his explanation that the President is not a public officer was refused by the court in its ruling. The decision of the court was based on the fact that the application did not contain the purported letter written to the office of the President. The accused person is currently enjoying bail after fulfilling the conditions of producing 3 sureties each of whom should sign a bond of D200,000 together with their ID Cards.]]>
