Sponsor Kind Foundaaation alias Doneer U Vour De Water Put, has on Thursday 20th May 2021, presented food items to orphans and needy persons at a ceremony held at Tabokoto.
The donation was part of the foundation’s continuous support to orphans and/or needy people annually in the country since its inception six years ago. Its support ranges from education, food items and second-hand clothes.
The donated items include 74 bags of rice (50kg), 42 gallons of oil (10l), 44 bags of onion and 54 crates of eggs.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Faraba Komma, the country coordinator, informed the beneficiaries that the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic made him to consult the foundation about the hardship people are grappling with. He said the pandemic has caused some people to lose their jobs while others have their earnings reduced.
“The donated food items are distributed among three communities in Tabokoto. Each community received 20 bags of rice (50kg), 14 bags of onion, 10 gallons of 10 liters cooking oil, and 9 crates of egg.
“Sinchu Alagie received 17 bags of rice (50kg), 12 bags of onion, 11 crates of eggs, 8 gallons of cooking oil (10l) and 3 gallons of cooking oil (5l). Manna village in the Central River Region received 37 bags of rice (50kg), 18 bags of onion, 24 crates of eggs, 12 gallons of cooking oil (10l), and 12 gallons of cooking oil (5l),” he said.
Speaking further, Coordinator Komma thanked the foundation for the support it rendered to the needy people and responding to their calls amid the current trying times.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Imam Kebba Jammeh of Tabokoto said it is not the first time they received such support from the foundation.
“This is the sixth occasion since the inception of the foundation,” he said.
Imam Jammeh said this year’s support came at a time when the beneficiaries needed it the most amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Thus, he thanked the donor and prayed for the foundation to flourish.
Yassin Ceesay, a beneficiary, expressed her appreciation to the foundation for the support, saying she has been benefitting from the foundation’s donation since its inception.
