Demba Jarju, Gambia’s sole representative at the Brazil Rio Paralympic Games would today kick-start his hunt for gold.
The 27-year-old will be competing in the Men’s 100m to start with beginning today before partaking in the 200, 400 and 800m races.
Demba will be hitting the big stage Friday for the second time after his maiden appearance in the 2012 London Paralympic Games.
Jarju attained his dream of qualifying for the Summer big events when he clocked a timing of 2.23 in the 800m finishing third best in the qualifiers in Morocco march this year.
He will be hoping to snatch the nation its first gold medal following disappointing performances by his abled body compatriot athletes.
