Gambia takes fall on Fifa again

Gambia’s dismal showings in Fifa’s rankings is showing no sign of slowing up just yet as the Scorpions took yet another massive fall this month.

Sang Ndong and his charges dropped six places in the latest FIFA ranking in September sitting at 169th.

With just one hundred and twenty-nine points, Gambia’s free fall could be attributed to the nation’s failure to grab a ticket for the Gabon 2017 Africa Cup of Nations finals.

Gambia finished bottom of the group on two points in six games in group M after suffering yet another defeat to Cameroon weeks ago in Yaoundé in what was the Scorpions’ final pool fixture.

Poor preparations and sheer lack of money to conduct test matches could best sum up Gambia’s unprepossessing show.

In Africa, Gambia ranks 50th only above football minnows, Somalia, Djibouti, Eritrea and Seychelles with Ivory  Coast top of the standings.
