I’m urging Gambians to Venture into Skills Development”, Says Insight Training Center’s Principal

Mr. Ismaila Ceesay the Principal of Insight Training Center has urged
Gambians to venture into skills development if they mean serious
development. Mr. Ismaila  Ceesay  made this remark during the weekend at a ceremony marking the
17^th year  anniversary of his institution.
He added that they are celebrating his institution’s successful
existence and development,   pointing out that this celebration is not
only a joyous occasion for them but also a moment of reflection as
they are all good ambassadors of his noble institution.
“Insight Training center was established on the 25th of August 1999 and is
owned and run by Gambians.  We started with a journey of
uncertainty, which is the establishment of a training institution and
at the time there were few tertiary institutions”, said the Insight
Training center’s Principal.
He continued “I urge Gambians to venture into skills development if
they mean serious development.  The mission of my institution is to
promote quality education, affordable and relevant and easily
accessible skills training to everyone especially the youths, which is
why we have expanded our operation to Sinchu Alagie and Basse.  Our
reflection today should be how far we have gone in achieving those
goals and what our shortcomings are and we will not relent on our side
to do more”.
He said over the past seventeen years more than 3000 students have
graduated from his school in different field of studies such as
electrical installation, Construction, Information and Communication
Technology, Journalism amongst others.
He added that the aim of their expansion to Basse is to bring tertiary
education to the door step of rural people because tertiary
instructions are found only in the urban areas. He said their next aim
is how to expand technical and vocational education to the rest of the
country.
“The school contributes its own quota in national development as 30%
of the students are on scholarship, targeting the needy students from
the inception of the school to date. Such scholarships included forum
for African Women Educationist, the Gambia chapter (FAWGAM) amongst
others”, he said.
The board Chairman of Insight Training Center Mr. Alieu  Dibba
underscored the importance of skills development and professional
education.
Mr. Dibba added that skills development contributes to national
development, poverty reduction and makes somebody to be a responsible
citizen.
Other speakers included Mr. Cherno Jallow , who dwelt on Ethics of
Journalism and Social Media and the Chief Justice of the Gambia
Justice Emmanuel Fagbenle who threw light on compliance of Law
respectively.

The celebration was characterized with drama titled ‘My Insight Story
and Job Creators not Seekers’.
