12 SECURITY OFFICERS INVOLVED IN CAR CRASH- CLAIMS 1 LIFE

Gambia Police Force through their spokesperson has informed Foroyaa yesterday that 12 security officers were involved in car crash which claimed one live.

Inspector Foday Conta said  that the crash occurred  on Friday, 21st April 2017, around 10am, when a vehicle with registration number GPF 9 MKK, driven by Sergeant Faal with 11 members of mainly the Police Intervention Unit (PIU) stationed at Mansakonko on board, was involved in an accident between Sara-Samba and Kaiaf Village in the LRR.

He added that the men were going on an official duty at a check point in Kaiaf, so as to relieve those on duty.

He said immediately after Sara-Samba entering Kaiaf at a sharp bend, the rear tire of the Pick-up busted and the driver was unable to control the vehicle steadily.

Suddenly, he explained, the vehicle swayed from the high way and summersaulted causing serious injuries to all those onboard, which included; 10 PIU officers, 1 military and Immigration officers.

“The victims were escorted to Soma Major Health Center where Sergeant Faal (the driver) was pronounced dead. The others were referred to Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital for further medical treatment,” PRO Conta concluded.
