GTSC DAKAR DEM DIKK SIGN MOU

In pursuit of it’s strategic objective of being a leader in the transportation industry within the sub-region and fostering collaboration with key partners, GTSC on Friday, 21st April, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Dakar Dem Dick, Senegal’s largest public transport company. This initiative has paved the way for both companies to make regular exchange visits, form strategic alliance on key projects, share experience on best practices and provide the opportunity to foster professional relationship.

The delegation from the sister republic of Senegal comprising four men was led by Mr. Alhagie Sarr Faal, Deputy Managing Director of Dakar Dem Dikk-Dakar’s. The delegation made a courtesy call to the offices of the Ministry of Transport, Works and Infrastructure, the managing Directors of Gambia Ports Authority and subsequently to headquarters of the GTSC where they met upon arrival by the board Chairman of the GTSC, Mr. Muhammad Manjang.

 

Mr. Habib Drammeh, Managing Director of GTSC thanked the delegation for their brotherly visit  and opined that the two institutions have a lot to gain mutually through the benefits of a staff exchange programs, knowledge management and technology transfer. ‘‘The MOU offers reciprocal benefits for our organizations and we wish to assist Dakar Dem Dikk setup an electronic ticketing system (ETM) amongst others.’’ ‘‘The electronic ticketing machine currently in use by the GTSC allows the management of the nation’s only public transport company to access live data on tickets sold, bus locations and revenue generation even before the vehicles arrive at the depot’’, Mr. Drammeh indicated. Mr. Alhagie Sarr Faal, highlighted that through such strategic partnership and collaboration, expert knowledge from both companies could be shared mutually. He underscored that both Dakar Dem Dikk and GTSC order vehicles from the same manufacturer; that such a partnership arrangement will easily facilitate and expedite the availability of spare parts during GTSC’s maintenance process.

The Gambia Transport Service Company (GTSC) is dedicated to meeting and exceeding customers’ needs and expectations by providing affordable and reliable transport services for people traveling across the length and breadth of the country.

Over the years there has been a yearly increase in fleet size with the ordering of new vehicles each and every year since its inception. The company continues to expand it’s services within the sub-region. This fact can be attested to by the institution’s launching of two international services to Koundara in Guinea Conakry and Guinea Bissau. GTSC buses will be plying these routes on a weekly basis.

GTSC management also believes that the MOU agreement will pave the way for the company to enter the Senegalese market.
