Eleven surgeons from Senegal and Spain are offering free medical
assistance to Gambians at the Serrekunda general hospital in
Kanifing. The surgeons who specialize on surgery of the ear were introduced to the media on Wednesday 11th March at the hospital.They were brought to The Gambia through the auspices of Jumbo company in collaboration with Claros foundation in Spain.
During the introduction, Alieu Badjie, the Public Relation Officer
(PRO) at the hospital revealed that this is the second time that the
Claros foundation has sent surgeons to Gambia for this surgery. “They
have been of great help to the Gambian people because last year they
were of great help to us and this year they are here again to offer
service to those who have ear problem at our door step free of charge
to patients,” he remarked. He added that between Monday and Wednesday,
they had conducted 16 to 17 surgeries.
Alhagi Mustapha Saine, a board member of Serrekunda General Hospital
expressed his appreciation and thanked Professor Claros for their
support and hoped that this venture would continue.
Baba Nije Chief Executive Officer (CEO) explained that Claros
Foundation is a non profit organisation established in 2000 by Mrs
Morsel Cabala as the godmother. It focuses on fighting earring loss
and offering humanitarian aid to countries so that they can fight
pathologies and illnesses concerning anything from ear, throat and
nose and they are ready to offer trainings to the doctors who are
interested.
