By Sulayman Bah      A bevy of names have emerged in the race for the vacant SeddyKinteh Mustapha Kebbeh Lamin Kaba BajoGambia Football Federation top post since nominations were declared open. Prominent among the forwarded names are the ex- Football House heads, Seedy Kinteh and Mustapha Kebbeh, bidding for a return for another four-year stint. Kebbeh was recently removed from office by FIFA after Gambia got caught up in a maelstrom of controversy over age-cheating leading to the installation of a five-member Normalization Committee to temporarily steer the affairs of the Football House. Two months ago, Kebbeh hinted that he could run again for the presidency, a move pundits believe is an attempt to stage a comeback following his dramatic removal from office. As for Seedy Kinteh, the prospects for his imminent return to the fold has long been bandied about after he and other aspiring candidates were disqualified from contesting the elections by the then NC vetting committee during last year’s nominations. But from the look of things, this year’s process could take a new dimension, as no aspirant has so far been disqualified. That said, nominations which closed on Wednesday has not been without surprise names thrown in the fray. Former Fisheries minister Lamin Kaba Bajo is one such new name eyeing for the prized portfolio, following backing from Bombada Football Club in whose club board meeting he sits. Bajo is no stranger in handling an office after having been assigned in a plethora of roles in the current APRC government, however, it remains to be seen whether he can sell his agenda to football stakeholders. The September 20th Congress would not be any short of candidates if all goes well with Serrekunda Central’s Omar Danso and Brikama United’s Buba Bojang, both being options. But again, who among these will get the nod?]]>
