WILL THERE BE A RESCUE PACKAGE FOR DAILY OBSERVER?
From the information we have been receiving from both GRA and Daily Observer that the death knell of the newspaper is yet to be sounded. The GRA maintains that they have exercised a lot of patience and had to decide on closure as a last resort. They however point out that the closure is temporary to allow them to come up with a payment plan and a part payment. They say what they are interested in is not their closure but to get them to pay and continue business.
Daily Observer on the other hand say they are consulting legal experts to advise them on how to go about the matter, an indication that they want the problem solved and remain in business.
Daily Observer keep saying that they do not have the resources to pay even 30% of the amount upfront that the GRA is demanding. In this case will the proprietors of Daily Observer be willing to chip in something to save the newspaper at least in consideration of the 100 or so employees?
