national interest of a country, including economic, political, social, cultural, military and security interests of varying degrees. Hence an embassy which is in tune with its national responsibilities would monitor the media in the country concerned and report to the home government whenever something is reported which requires redress so that that would be done with speed. That is how an embassy could defend the integrity of one’s home government. We hope this will be food for thought for all resident ambassadors and their staff in the Gambia. ]]>
