QUESTION OF THE DAY
The answer to this question is simple. The Gambia Gazette no.30 of 28th May 2020 vol.137 indicates the following announcement under GN. No. 88/2020:
‘’ It is hereby notified for general information that it is intended to introduce the following Bill into the national Assembly:
An Act to promulgate the Constitution of the Republic of the Gambia 2020 and repeal the Constitution of the Republic of the Gambia, 1997and for connected matters.”
It is therefore clear that the intension of the executive is to introduce a Bill into the National Assembly aimed at transforming the draft Constitution into a fundamental law of the land by following the correct procedures.
