February 2024 is near. However the uncertainty in the political atmosphere of the country remains unaddressed. President Macky Sall could pull a big surprise if he had taken measures to ensure that all those who have clout in Senegalese politics participate fully in the election without any discrimination. He would have cemented greater trust if he were to declare that he would not interfere in the election and make sure that the environment is created where the choice made by the people would not be interfered with in any way.
Of course no one could govern a country for over ten years without having opponents. However, once one is bold in doing what is right it would be difficult to be wronged when one is out of office. The last bold step on the road of righteousness and good works is the most important step in the life of a president. Fear of life after the presidency should not bar a person from taking such a step.
