QUESTION OF THE DAY
WHAT SHOULD THE RELIGIOUS LEADERS TELL PRESIDENT JAMMEH?
They should tell him that having ruled this country for 22 years and went through an election which is globally considered to be free, fair and genuine, it is better for him to leave a legacy of surrendering executive power through democratic means.
They should be able to tell him that taking control of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) undermines the independence of the election body and makes it worse for him.
He should be told that he is losing the battle for public opinion and should relinquish executive power at the date of expiry of his term.
This is the best way to go.
