What Is The Judicial Authority Doing About Availability Of Appropriate Interpreters?

306

QUESTION OF THE DAY

Section 24 subsection (3) paragraph (f) states that,

“Every person who is charged with a criminal offence shall be permitted to have without payment, the assistance of an interpreter if he or she cannot understand the language used at the trial of the charge…..”  In short, the provision of interpreters is a necessary component of our judicial system. Needless to say, to attain efficacy and efficiency during trials, it is important that enough interpreters be provided for the Courts.

Foroyaa will get in touch with the judicial secretary to find out what is being done to handle this problem and avoid unnecessary adjournments and prolonged trials.
