WHAT HAS THE PDOIS SECRETARY GENERAL SAID ABOUT THE DIFFERENT POSITIONS OF PDOIS MEMBERS ON THE MAYORAL ELECTION IN BANJUL AND KM?

357

When asked the PDOIS Secretary General said the following:

All PDOIS members should know that the only ship our regional committees decided to contest is the Basse Area Council chairpersonship election. It should be noted that if the members in other regions, municipalities and cities decide to take sides in the open in those elections it may affect the candidate in Basse.

The reasonable and justifiable position to take is to be neutral in the open and then further decide whether to vote or not based on the dictates of conscience. Those members who decide to take a different approach are entitled to do so but should bear in mind that if the person they support fails to deliver after victory they will have no moral authority to criticise the person and are likely to be held accountable for their words and deeds during the campaign. This the verdict of facts and common sense and all PDOIS members should take heed.

This PDOIS leadership will not be distracted or detracted to build an ethic based and knowledge based democratic foundation for successful development by relying on the sovereign wealth of our people. That is what is worth campaigning for. Trial and error policies will never bring about sustainable development at the local and central government levels. To give the impression that such policies may succeed is to challenge the verdict of science, history and common sense.
