The Gambia cannot win the fight against Coronavirus, otherwise known as Covid-19, if they do not work together as a team, said the President of Farato International Peace Festival, Saikou Njie.
“We cannot win this fight against Coronavirus if we don’t work as a team and every one of us have a role to play,” he said.
Mr. Njie argued that it is only when Gambians unite in the bid to combat the outbreak of Covid-19 in the country, that the battle would be won.
Currently, The Gambia has 10 confirmed cases of the deadly virus, Covid-19. Of this figure, seven are active cases, two have since recovered from the virus and one passed away.
Speaking further, Njie said God will answer their prayers if they yoke together to stamp the deadly disease out of the country.
He added: “It’s important that we act as a team, not pointing fingers; we have to put our heads together to come up with ideas…The health workers are in the frontline, but they have to get our support. Support materially, but also moral support, because moral support is important.”
Njie made these remarks during their peace festival held in collaboration with Helping Hand The Gambia (a German charitable organization). They donated infusion sets worth 32, 000 euros to the ministry of health at Kotu.
