Sarjo Sowe and Ousman Jallow are currently in Police custody for allegedly stealing a cow.
The two were arrested with the said cow Tuesday night by the newly established Committee called the Wuli East Animal ‘Kafoo’, en route to the village of Baja Kunda.

According to information, the suspects claim to be assigned by one Amadou Gagigo to escort the cow to one Lasana Jarri Sowe in Baja Kunda village; that on their way, they were intercepted on the grounds of using fake documents of ownership to transport the animal. The two and the alleged stolen cow were since taken to the Sare Ngai Police Station where their statements were obtained and then subsequently transferred to the Basse Police Station for further questioning.

The Wuli East Animal Kafoo, is a newly formed committee who have joined their counterparts in neighboring Senegal to tackle the frequent menace of animal theft in their area and along the two countries common border.

This is the second time in less than a week that the committee has succeeded in intercepting stolen or missing animals from suspected cattle rustlers.

Foroyaa will further investigate and follow this and other issues of cattle rustling in that part of the Gambia, in order to shed more light on the matter, for the benefit of the citizenry.
