The president of the Republic and APRC Party Leader Yahya AJJ Jammeh has described tribalism as ungodly which should not
be encouraged in society.
President Jammeh was speaking on the third day of his tour at a meeting held in Janjanbureh, CRR on Wednesday night, 16 November 2016. The meeting was well attended by party members and militants.
The APRC Party Leader acknowledges the women and children of the Central River Region (CRR) for being devout Muslims, God-fearing and hardworking Gambians.
He thanked the people of CRR for the exemplary unity among themselves and encouraged them to keep the momentum.
Renewing his commitment to the advancement and development of the country, the Gambian leader said he is not looking for wealth or popularity but wants to prove to the entire world that Africans can take care of themselves.
He vowed that slowly but surely a time will come when Gambians would not have anything to request from him because all their needs will soon come to their door steps.
The Gambian leader noted that a lot has been achieved in the last 22years much to the surprise of many including the Western powers who doubted the future of his government at the dawn of the ‘Revolution’. “A time will come when no Gambian will hustle in the western world,” he promised.
He referred to Sankulay Kunda bridge as one of the landmark achievements registered by his administration in CRR. President Jammeh said when he made the declaration that he was going to construct a bridge, many such as the opposition said he was just making political statement because they thought it was not going to happen considering all that is associated with the crossing point.
President Jammeh also urged Gambians to go out and vote in the upcoming polls but not to relax at home, saying that “our party will win with or without my vote.”
It was announced that the President, out of generosity gave 1 Million Dalasis to the school children of Janjangbureh that were at the meeting.
Mrs Fatou Lamin Faye, Minister of Basic and Secondary Education urged the students to make best use of the opportunities created by the Jammeh administration, asserting that education is now affordable and accessible like never before.
She encouraged parents to enroll and retain their children in school, especially the girl child.
Benjamin Roberts, Minister of Tourism and Culture, who also doubles as the APRC liaison officer for CRR advised people not to give attention to detractors who are bent on destroying the ongoing development of the country.
He pointed out that government through The Gambia Ports Authority (GPA) is working to procure a new ferry for the Janjangbureh-Laminkoto crossing point.
Chief Bakary Jam Jawo of Janjangbureh, Lady Councillor Aja Yama Manneh and Alhaji Omar Mambureh all expressed loyalty to the president and harped on the numerous developments brought by the government to Janjangbureh, from education, health, agriculture and infrastructural development such as the Sankulay Kunda Bridge and the construction of roads.
